Day 84 I wonder how many “days” are going to be in this year

Filed under: 365 — Tags: — calvinlungphotography @ 17:32

With the beginning of school, taking pictures have dropped several rungs on the priority list unfortunately. But during today’s walk, I realized how often there’s so many photos to be taken from common everyday objects. Even if there’s nothing special about them, there’s always something different.

Day 83 Psalm 25

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — calvinlungphotography @ 08:59

Psalm 25

Of David.

1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;

2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.

3 No one whose hope is in you
will ever be put to shame,
but they will be put to shame
who are treacherous without excuse.

4 Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;

5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

6 Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.

7 Remember not the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you are good, O LORD.

8 Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.

9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.

10 All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
for those who keep the demands of his covenant.

11 For the sake of your name, O LORD,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

12 Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD ?
He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.

13 He will spend his days in prosperity,
and his descendants will inherit the land.

14 The LORD confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.

15 My eyes are ever on the LORD,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.

16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart have multiplied;
free me from my anguish.

18 Look upon my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.

19 See how my enemies have increased
and how fiercely they hate me!

20 Guard my life and rescue me;
let me not be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.

21 May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope is in you.

22 Redeem Israel, O God,
from all their troubles!

Day 82 Man, I really suck at this.

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , — calvinlungphotography @ 18:35

I really need to keep my eyes open more and capture the world around me. O well. I woke up this morning and this is what I saw as I was driving to school. What does this remind me of? “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna dieee!” -Agnes (Despicable Me) I want a bed made of these clouds.

Day 9*9

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , — calvinlungphotography @ 22:34

I love the pier. There’s just so many photo opportunities hiding around each corner. But sometimes, you’ll have to search for those perfect photo corners. Or just tweak them a little. ;] The sun was already setting, giving everything a nice golden tone. But tweaking the white balance just a little bit adds more of that amazing warm color. A little PP in LR3 for vignette and boom. There you go.

Day 77 >_< I keep missing dates. T_T

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , , , — calvinlungphotography @ 22:29

A day spent at the local Japanese garden was a bit… Banal? Interesting? Weird? I think it’s a combination of all three. ND filter + ƒ/22 = Really slow shutter speeds. Those slow shutter speeds are what gets you those nice, silky smooth waterfall effects. Although it’s not something you would do everyday, it’s a nice way to understand where a slow shutter speed is sometimes better than a fast shutter speed. A fast shutter speed captures motion, but sometimes, a slow shutter speed captures more of the motion (and in a more gorgeous way too).

Day 76 Awww. Crap.

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , , — calvinlungphotography @ 17:07

Even after several years of doing this, I suck at lighting. But just like art and music, practice makes perfect. Anyways, this is the stack of books I wanted to start reading/reviewing/finishing at the beginning of summer. Actually, this stack should be even higher. Add in a few summer school books (Japanese and Music Theory), med books (EMT) and just random novels/works (Poe, photography and DIY stuff) and the stack grows quite rapidly. Maybe that’ll be tomorrow’s shot. O yea. Don’t forget Shakespeare and the Bible (which I really wanted to finish over summer but so far, I’m not doing so good.)

Credit for photo idea goes to Tracey Luke.

EXIF: ƒ/5.6 1/60th ISO 100 The ƒ/5.6 should give enough depth of field to read all the titles of the books and it also helps bring down the ambient. It does affect the flash power but I can also bring the flash power up. The 1/160th is mostly what kills the ambient light. Unfortunately, unlike my D200, the GF1’s sync speed only goes down to 1/160th, which isn’t good enough to kill the ambient entirely.

Day 75 is MIA?

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , , , — calvinlungphotography @ 18:10

I did take a photo today. Experimenting with harsh direct light was interesting. It certainly was an ego boost. That’s for sure. ;] If you really really really want to see it, drop me a line but trust me. You probably don’t.

Day 33 Whoops. I meant 74 ;]

Not exactly the most ground break photo but just a testament to how something so small can mean so much. Club 33 is one of Disney’s best kept secrets. Not because of it isn’t spoken much about, it is, but it’s that fact that the entire club is surrounded by a shroud of mystery. It was certainly a wonderful experience if someone gets a chance, he or she should definitely go experience it. Just the elevator alone was worth it. And the food, the food was wonderful. It’s certainly an amazing thing that hundreds/thousands/tens of thousands of people pass by this building but don’t know what’s hidden inside. I would love to go back one day and be a real member. So cool.

Day 73 IT LIVVVVEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , — calvinlungphotography @ 22:33

This is basically what I’ve and a couple of my friends been working on for several days today. Essentially, sound+light turns into triggers so my camera+light go off at the same time. Hopefully, photos using this thingamabob will make its way onto the blog eventually.

Day 72 This is where I wish I was a CS/EE major.

Filed under: 365 — Tags: , — calvinlungphotography @ 20:58

Just recently, I bought one of these thingamabobs on the internet that triggers your flash so you can do some high speed photography. But considering that I don’t even know how to properly ground myself (let alone putting together one of these), there might be some technical difficulty in executing the shots for the next couple of days. So… We’ll see how that turns out.
